Q: How long should I store pumped breast milk in storage bags?
A: We recommend the following storage directions with EvenFlo® Advanced Breast Milk Storage Bags:
At room temperature (73-77ºF / 23-25ºC) - 4 Hours
In the refrigerator (32-39ºF / 0-4ºC) - 5 to 7 Days
Self Contained Refrigerator/Freezer (0ºF / -19ºC) - 3 to 4 Months
Deep Freezer (0ºF / -19ºC) - 6 to 12 Months
Please note that you must NEVER refreeze already thawed milk
Q: How do you store these breast milk bags when traveling?
A: Please try to avoid direct sunlight when traveling and don’t allow the car’s room temperature to exceed more than 77 degrees Fahrenheit. This environment will allow the breast milk to be stored at room temperature for up to four hours before it needs to be refrigerated. An insulated cooler with frozen ice packs will keep milk cool for up to 24 hours.
Q: Can my baby drink cold breast milk?
A: Yes they can. Babies can drink cold breast milk and more often than not, this can provide a form of pain relief during teething for babies.
Q: How do you warm up breast milk from the fridge?
A: Take the breast milk storage bag from the fridge and leave it on the kitchen counter for a couple of minutes to begin defrosting. Heat water to a lukewarm status by using either a tea kettle or microwave. Pour the lukewarm water into a mug or bowl and then place the Breast Milk Storage Bag into the bowl of warm water and allow it to stand for a bit.
Q: Can you combine breast milk from 2 different days?
A: No. mixing recently expressed breast milk with already cooled or frozen milk is not advised because it can rewarm the older stored milk.
