A: No, these are single use disposable cleaning sponge sticks.
Q: How do I use the myAIRVO™ 2 Cleaning Sponge Stick for disinfection?
A: The Disinfection Cleaning Sponge Stick should be used at least weekly (or daily) to clean the right tube connection elbow of the myAirvo™ 2 with a mild dish soap in order to keep the machine running correctly and germ free.
In regards to the mask or nasal cannula, wash in warm, soapy water and then rinse it thoroughly with a solution of 10 parts water and one part vinegar. Rinse well with hot water and hang it to air dry.
Q: How often should you change the oxygen water?
A: This should be done daily. Every time you need to refill your humidifier chamber, wash it with soap and warm water, rinse well, air dry properly and refill with distilled water only.
Q: How often do I need to replace my mask or nasal cannula when using myAIRVO™ 2?
A: We recommend every 2–4 weeks. However, if you have the flu or are sick, you will have to replace the mask or cannula each time after use.
Q: Can you use tap water for oxygen in the water chamber?
A: No, you should only use distilled water in the humidifier chamber. Tap water, even when filtered, can still contain tiny impurities that might be harmful to you and can also cause build up and malfunctions in the myAIRVO™ 2 machine.
A: No, it is not. Boiled water is simply where water temperature is increased until it reaches its boiling point and this helps to kill a host of bacteria that can make one sick. However, it is still not as effective as distilled water which has been stripped of all impurities, including minerals and microorganisms, making it even more pure, effective and ideal for therapy.
