Spectra® Mamivac® Cherry Shaped Nipple Shield for Breastfeeding
This innovative nipple shield is designed to resemble a real nipple, complete with small holes that allow milk to flow through freely and easily. This can be a lifesaver for babies who have trouble latching on, as it provides them with the stimulation they need to get into the habit of breastfeeding. The Spectra Mamivac® Nipple Shield is available in two sizes (18mm and 22mm) to ensure a perfect fit for your breast.
The Cherry-shaped Spectra® Mamivac® Nipple Shields adheres to the mothers natural nipple shape and offers a comfortable, tight fit for babies while nursing. The size of the shield is 1-2 mm bigger than the diameter of the nipple, so it provides a snug fit that helps prevent leaks. Made of soft, flexible silicone, the shields are comfortable for both baby and mom. The shields also help protect sore or cracked nipples. If you find that this cherry-shaped nipple shield doesn’t provide a comfortable fit with your nipple, then we recommend trying the Spectra® Mamivac® Conical Shaped Nipple Shield for a more comfortable fit.
So don't let latching issues stand in the way of providing your baby with the nutrition they need - try the Spectra® Mamivac®

When it comes to sizing information:
We do encourage moms that are interested in buying nipple shields to enquire and do so with the assistance of a lactation consultant or healthcare specialist.
Two important factors should be taken into consideration when purchasing nipple shields:
1. The Spectra® Mamivac® Cherry-Shaped Nipple Shield should fit a little more tighter than a breast shield or flange. The size of the baby's mouth should be taken into consideration before using niiple shields before breastfeeding..2. The Cherry-Shaped nipple shield should be 1-2 mm bigger than the diameter of the nipple. For example, A 16mm diameter breast nipple would be used with an 18mm nipple shield.

Q: How do I know which Spectra® Mamivac® nipple shield to use?
A: If your nipple measures 16 mm in diameter, your recommended breast shield size is 18 mm. This is because the 18 mm shield fits nipples up to 17 mm in diameter. If your nipple diameter measures 19 mm or greater, your recommended size would be 22 mm.
Q: How do you use the Mamivac nipple shield?
A: A short massage to the nipple area to make the nipples stand upright makes fitting the Spectra® Mamivac® nipple shields much easier. Turn the soft edges up and press the nipple shield as close as possible to your nipple. Press the soft edges afterwards to your skin.
Q: Can I use these nipple shields with my Spectra® Breast Pump?
A: No, it is not recommended. It is important to not confuse nipple shields with breast shields. Breast shields are made specifically for use with a breast pump whereas nipple shields are meant to be used when a mom directly breastfeeds her baby. An example of breast shields can be seen here included in the Spectra® Premium Accessory Kit for Spectra® Breast Pumps.
Q: Can nipple shields damage nipples?
A: No. However, Spectra® Mamivac® Nipple Shields cannot correct underlying problems either, especially sore and sensitive nipples or low milk production but it can help to alleviate the possible soreness and pain that can be experienced during breastfeeding. If your baby does not latch on properly, this may also compress the nipple, causing damage and intense pain.
Q: Do you have to sterilize nipple shields every time?
A: Generally there is no need to sterilise the nipple shield after each use. Rinse in cold water after use. Then after, wash in hot soapy water and rinse under hot running water. Drain, dry and store in a clean sterilized container.
A: Although you can, we observe that negative results of using nipple shields is that it can be difficult to wean your baby from the shield, especially if they've been using it for many weeks. Nipple shields are not meant to be long-term solutions, but rather “bridges” to get the baby to nurse full-time from the breast.
